INTRODUCTION

This document has been set up in two sections. The first section is a handbook providing various reference materials, including examples of forms used by the Association, its registration procedures, competition and hosting information, high performance policies, and a directory of key diving personnel in Canada.

The second section, the Rule Book, contains Diving Canada rules as established by the Association for all national and sanctioned diving competitions, as well as excerpts of the rules of the “Fédération Internationale de Natation” ( FINA) that apply to the sport of diving internationally and which shall apply to all competitions sponsored by or sanctioned by Diving Canada.

In the event that a Diving Canada rule is not prescribed, the FINA rule will be binding. In the event that there is a conflict between the English and French versions of the Diving Canada Handbook and Rule Book, the English version shall prevail.

These rules are effective for the period September 1 to August 31 of the current year.

It should be noted that any errors, omissions or changes to these rules may be communicated by way of letter from the Association during the period over which these rules are effective.

It should also be noted that where “he”, “she”, “him”, or “her” is used, it is intended to refer to both sexes and is not gender specific.

Comments or suggestions on this Rule Book should be forwarded to the Chair of the Rules Committee, c/o the National Office.
