We currently have 7 competitive clubs (Boardworks, VACD, Prince George, Fraser Valley, Kamloops, North Shore & White Rock) and 2 recreational clubs (Penticton & Cranbrook) and are optimistic we will attain our goal by end of season. We lost one competitive club this year, Simon Fraser which was extremely disappointing. Coaching Development has been constant at the LTD level. We are pleased to report a record 17 LTD Instructor clinics last year, covering all zones in B.C. Prince George has a new coach, Fu Quang from China and will hopefully be in Prince George for 3 5 years to re-develop the club. Coaching certification continues to be a challenge. We are waiting on the CBET program and finding it very difficult to find someone to teach the course. Weve had some challenges with the cost and recertification requirement. No Level 1 or 2 courses were implemented this year as it seemed logical to wait for the new programs rather than have participants complete and then re-certify. STATE OF DIVING IN PROVINCE: We are very pleased to have Heather Turner move to BC with her family and agree to be our new president of BC Diving. Heather works in the recreation field and we are hopeful she can help us find a way to work with our recreation centres to improve access to diving participant data. Government support for diving and sport in BC is positive. Core funding has gone up $13,000.00 and gaming funds increased $10,000.00. We believe this is in due to a stronger focus on sport due to the 2010 Winter Games and an improved economy. For us this means we can secure our technical director Megan Parker for a full year which will greatly assist us in reaching our program goals. Upcoming additional funding programs include coaching support and athlete development money. We are waiting on application procedures and criteria. It was very exciting to have four members of the World Championship team and to have a World Champion back in our province. Blythe Hartleys 1 metre result along with Riley McCormick, Wegadesk Gorup Paul and Martha Dale making finals created a strong media interest and great exposure for our sport. Boardworks September programs were sold out and all other clubs reported increased volume of enquiries and registrations. An adjustment in our competition schedule this year will see us host a Senior Provincial Championship in Victoria in December to allow our senior divers qualification opportunities for nationals in January. This change also allows us to take our Junior Provincials to Kamloops this year, which will be good for club development in the interior. Yet to be finalized is Canada Cup 2006 but we are looking forward to the possibility of once again hosting in Victoria. PROGRAM PRIORITIES Our number one priority is to address our coaching deficit at all levels and to ensure we can implement certification requirements in a timely and cost efficient manner. BC Games is a priority as it has been identified by our province as a program for developing divers and the basis from which many other funding programs will be measured. Our major challenges with this initiative are the restrictive criteria (small age window) eligibility (may only attend one Games) and geographic representation. We will continue to work to find a way to participate in this program to ensure our position in the overall sport body funding programs however it will be difficult. In 2006 the BC Games will be held in Kamloops. New this year is a marketing program to address the gaps between recreational programs and BC Diving which will result in more registration. This program will involve flyers and mail in or on line registration for BC Diving registration card and discount program. We will be working on this program with one of our sponsors DB Perks. FUTURE PLANS Over the next few years, sport in British Columbia will enjoy an increased profile and we must ensure we maximize our opportunities to capitalize on all potential programs. As we grow closer to 2010 Winter Olympics, sponsors, government bureaucrats and politicians will look for ways support sport and it is imperative that we have our initiatives well planned and ready to execute. We have a tremendous opportunity to showcase a sport that has podium potential however, we need to push hard to ensure decision makers invest in facilities and coaches. BC Divings longer term plans include increasing awareness and communication with recreation facility decision makers to ensure that diving is given fair consideration during the construction and redevelopment of facilities. www.bcdiving.ca Beverley Boys AGM 2005 AGA November 18-20 Novembre Report/Rapport AGM 2005 AGA November 18-20 Novembre Report/Rapport )*+FG~ XtbNCh8 56mH sH &h8 h8 56CJKHaJmH sH "h8 h8 56CJaJmH sH h8 hG CJaJmH sH h7h8 CJKHaJha haYCJOJQJaJha haY>*CJOJQJaJ"h/_haY5>*CJOJQJaJh/_hG CJh/_hG CJhSchG CJOJQJhSch/_CJOJQJhrHCJmH sH hfhfaJ)*+FG s t ~ $^a$gd8 $1$5$7$8$H$a$gd8 $a$gdaY $dNgdrH]CWXkl;< 7$8$H$gdaY$1$5$7$8$H$a$gdaY$a$gdaY$a$gdaY$1$5$7$8$H$a$gd8 $^a$gd8 Xkl (07@ABCDɷ{g{g^Z{g{g^Vh&9hV 7h2#hV 7CJ'h*qh2#6CJOJQJaJmH sH h*qh2#6CJOJQJaJjh2#CJUmHnHuh/jh/UhrhaY6hrhr6#haYhaY6CJOJQJ^JaJh8 ha haYCJOJQJaJha haY>*CJOJQJaJ%h/_haY56>*CJOJQJaJ!
