In fact, over the past three years, Quebec divers have responded to the call of major Games and their performances have shone. This post-Olympic phase also marks a time for all the players to reposition themselves on the world stage. Regarding Coach Development in 2004/05, Qubec Diving has responded as in the past to stated requests for base levels. In more advanced cases, such a response capacity has decreased due to the fact that coach development programs are still being revised. These did not become available until June, 2004. As for career training, the activity was supported by numerous internships under the Coaches Committee initiative, and by our participation in the Canadian National Sport Centre [Centre national Multisport-Montral (CNMM)] Coaches Conference, held in February, 2005, in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu. As regards Club Development, this has been identified as a priority for 2005/06. That led to the hiring of a development officer, Louise Kairns, in August, 2005. Louise will be visiting all the clubs in the province, including former, active and possible venues, and will ensure they receive all available assistance. The State of Diving in the Province could be described as being in relatively good shape. The impact of WC 05 on hiring cannot yet be accurately determined, but we can say that the Alexandre Despatie and Emilie Heymans factors endure. However, we also recognize that the general state of health of our clubs remains fragile. That is why Qubec Diving has decided to stress its support of club and coaching development. Personnel changes among the Federations staff will particularly help in that area. Our program priorities are aimed at ensuring the availability of revised national programs be they for the training of coaches, officials, or students (LTD). We are aware that although a lot is changing in each of those areas, it is today that the end product is needed. We hope to see some rapid and dynamic action wherever there is slow progress. As for our initiatives within our own territory, they continue to ensure that our clubs benefit from a network of strong provincial competitions. Further, club support will extend to competitions of a regional nature. In addition, we encourage career training in the form of internships made available through the coaching network. Our future plans are conditioned by our three-year Development Plan, a guiding document produced in collaboration with our members which accompanies our requests for support that are submitted to the Ministry. Its contents address our objectives for development in the area of clubs, coaches, officials, Jeux du Qubec (provincial Games), Canada Games, etc. In that regard, in the context of municipal de-amalgamation and the major changes going on in our society, the year in progress will perhaps enable us to position our sport even better, as regards national and municipal training centres among other things.
