Diving Plongeon Canada Awards


Duraflex International World Diver Award
Established in 2007, the Duraflex International World Diver Award is to be presented every four years to the top male and female divers over that period.

Olympic Hall of Fame
The Canadian Olympic Hall of fame honours those who have served the cause of the Olympic Movement with distinction. Here are the athletes, coaches, officials, administrators and volunteers whose dedication, sportsmanship and achievements have made an exemplary contribution to the Canadian Olympic Movement.

The Canadian Olympic Association honours a select group of exceptional athletes, coaches and supporters by inducting them into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame.

Aquatic Hall of Fame of Canada
To be nominated, a diver must have obtained a gold medal in the Olympics or World Championships, or two gold medals at a PanAm or Commonwealth Games. (Prior to 1994 a diver had to collect only one gold medal to be nominated.)

Canadian Sport Awards
The Canadian Sport Awards recognize and showcase excellence in Canadian sport. Established in 1972, these awards have evolved to become the premier recognition event for sporting excellence. A nationally-televised gala, the Canadian Sport Awards brings together approximately 700 members of the sport community to honour the spirit, drive and commitment of Canada's world level athletes, coaches corporations, volunteers, and sport leaders.

SPEEDO® makes bonus payments to divers who medal at the 2000 and 2004 Olympics. Athletes are awarded $6000; $3000; and $1000 for gold, silver and bronze medal performances respectively.

Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Awards
The Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Awards recognizes coaches whose athletes have won medals in open world championships, at the Olympic Games, at the Special Olympics World Games, or at the Paralympic Games. Recipients of the award are honoured at the Coaching Association of Canada’s annual Sport Leadership Awards Dinner where they receive appropriate recognition before their peers.

Jack Donohue Coaching Award

Geoff Gowan Coaching Award
This prestigious award was created in 1996 to honour Geoffrey Gowan, CM, PhD, retiring CAC president, and to recognize lifetime contribution to coaching development. The CAC board of directors selects the recipients.

Sheila Robertson Award
Introduced in 2005, this award is presented to the National Sport Organization that demonstrates a commitment to promoting and recognizing its coaches within the organization and the community through the use of various media outlets

Commonwealth Games Award of Merit
The Award of Merit honours individuals who have made distinguished and lasting contributions to the aims and objectives of the Commonwealth Games Canada, the Commonwealth Games Foundation of Canada (CGFC), Commonwealth Games Team, and the Commonwealth Sport Development Program. The awards are presented at the M.M. Bobby Robinson Banquet on Saturday. Robinson, a Canadian reporter and team manager, was the creator of the British Empire Games, which became the Commonwealth Games.

Fox 40 Sport Official Awards
Each year, Fox 40 International, in collaboration with Sport Officials Canada (SOC), honours a male and a female official in the following categories:

Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame
Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1955 to preserve the record of Canadian sport achievements and to promote a greater awareness of our nation’s heritage of sport. Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame recognizes persons who, by their achievements, have brought distinction to Canada in their sport or by their contribution to the development and advancement of sport and athletic endeavour in Canada.

Diving Plongeon Canada offers a number of awards to recognize outstanding contributions to the art
and sport of diving.

Conceived in 2000, this award is presented annually to one male and one female diver who have demonstrated academic and professional achievement, community involvement and outstanding athletic achievements. Candidates are chosen as role models, embodying the ideals and values of the sport of diving.

Beverley Boys Award
The Beverley Boys Award is presented at the Senior National Championships to the top male and top female divers of the competition. To be eligible, divers must compete in all three events: 1 metre, 3 metre and 10 metre.The award is named after Beverley Boys who represented Canada in international competition for 14 years. Over that time Beverley won 34 National diving titles, three gold, three silver and one bronze medal in four Commonwealth Games, and represented Canada at the Olympic Games in 1968, 1972 and 1976. She was twice recognized as Canadian Female Athlete of the Year and is a member of the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame. Beverley Boys has maintained her involvement in diving as Executive Director of Dive B.C. and in representing Canada as an official at the 1992, 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games.

Isabel Warren Award
Presented by the Etobicoke Diving Club, The Isabel Warren Award recognizes one male and one female diver in group B who records the highest cumulative score in the compulary diving portion of the championships. To be eligable, divers must compete on all three boards (1m, 3m, and tower).
