Wegadesk is a First Nations Mik’maq whose first name means Northern Lights. His mother enrolled him into diving because of his natural talent of doing flips on their outdoor trampoline. In 2004, Wegadesk won the bronze medal on 10M at the World Junior Diving Championships in Belem, Brazil. After the World Juniors, Wegadesk took two months off from diving and returned in time for the Winter Senior Nationals. His break proved to work well as during his return he qualified for the Canada Cup team where he earned a respectable 10th place finish. Wegadesk was the top Canadian diver on 10M at the 2005 World Championships in Montreal finishing 17th.
Wegadesk had a busy 2006 season competing at the FINA World Cup, the FINA Grand Prix circuit and the Commonwealth Games where he placed 4th on 10M synchro.
