One of Canada’s top international divers, Blythe has dedicated this season to her brother Strachan who passed away after a battle with cancer.

This former gymnast wanted to become a veterinarian when she grew up. At the age of 11 she made the switch to diving and now she is a two-time world champion and Olympic medalist.

Blythe was Canada’s first ever world champion in 2001 when she set a new world record on 1M. In Montreal, at the 2005 World Aquatic Championships, Blythe reclaimed her world title on 1M by smashing her benchmark set in 2001. At her second Olympic Games, Blythe added an Olympic medal to her extensive resumé by winning the bronze medal in Athens with Emilie Heymans in the 10M synchronized event.

Since the 2005 World Championships, Blythe has had success on both the 1M and 3M. She won the gold medal in both events at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. At the 2006 FINA World Cup in China she won the bronze on 1M and at the 2007 World Aquatic Championships in Melbourne, Australia she claimed the silver medal in the same event.

Blythe is known as one of the strongest springboard divers in the world. Her height on take-off is substantially higher than most of her other competitors.

Blythe recently completed her degree in communication and business at the University of Southern California and now trains full-time in Calgary in preparation for her third Olympic Games.
