Competition set for April 16 – 17 in Mexico

Ottawa, April 12, 2010 – Diving Canada is pleased to announce its team that will represent Canada at the FINA World Series event scheduled for April 16 th and 17 th, in Veracruz, Mexico.

César Henderson (CAMO) of Montreal, Quebec, and Arturo Miranda (independent) are the coaches accompanying the team to China. Dr Stephanie Anisko of Toronto , Ontario, is traveling with the team and will serve as the chiropractor and physiotherapist.

 About the FINA World Series

The FINA Diving World Series was originally launched in 2007, and in 2010 will comprise of three stops. The 2010 Canadian team members qualified for the FINA World Series based on their strong performances at the 2009 FINA World Aquatic Championships. The top-eight divers in each event from the World Championships are invited to compete on all stops of the World Series. If an invited athlete is forced to decline their invitation, the next highest ranked diver is invited to the event. Medallists at the FINA Diving World Series receive important cash prizes. Canadian divers won a total of three medals on the four stops of the 2009 FINA Diving World Series. The Canadian tandem of Roseline Filion and Meaghan Benfeito finished the season in third place on 10-meter synchro after winning two silver medals and a bronze medal.
